NEHS GRANTS PROGRAM

Supporting Research & Education in New England

The New England Herpetological Society (NEHS) offers small grants to support research and educational projects that benefit reptiles, amphibians, and the broader herpetological community within New England. Through this program, NEHS aims to encourage meaningful work that advances knowledge, conservation, and responsible herpetological practices across the region.

NEHS grants are designed to support a wide range of worthwhile projects, including but not limited to:

Field research and population inventories, conservation and habitat-focused studies, educational programs and outreach initiatives, captive breeding, husbandry, nutritional, or behavioral research.

Grant Funding & Eligibility

Grant awards typically average around $1,000, with final amounts determined by project scope, proposed budget, and available funding. The application process allows for flexibility, recognizing that research needs and supply costs may vary and change over time.

To be eligible for a grant, projects must take place within the New England region and align with NEHS’s mission of education, conservation, and the advancement of herpetology. Applications are welcome from individuals, organizations, and institutions.
